What size TV stand do you need?
Your TV stand should be at least as wide as your TV, and ideally a little wider, so the TV doesn’t look like it’s hanging over the edge. Use this as a guide:

For comfortable viewing, the middle of the screen should be close to your eye level when you’re seated on the sofa, so most stands are between 40 cm and 60 cm tall. What affects the price of a TV stand?
- Length. A longer stand uses more timber and takes more time to build.
- Storage. Doors, drawers and hinges add cost compared with open shelves.
- Design. Wall units, L-shaped stands, carved details and built-in LED lighting cost more than a simple low stand.
- Finish. Natural wood, stain, gloss paint and two-tone finishes are priced differently.
- Material. Hardwood lasts longer and holds heavy TVs better than cheap board, which can sag or swell in a damp house.
